August was not the gentle month I was hoping for. I struggled with a lot of anxiety for the majority of the month, something I haven’t had to deal with so consistently in so long, and then my dog passed away. August really decided to test me, huh! Reflecting on it now, I can see that during these hardships I leaned on my family and friends for support. I was very open and vulnerable with my anxiety and started a support group chat with others that confided in me their similar struggles. It was terrifying to be so vulnerable but I found a supportive community of people because of it. When Jake passed away, I immediately sheltered myself in my family’s love and we got each other through the first few days without him. This month just proved to me how crucial family and friends are during times of need.
On a happier note, September is vacation month! Oh I can’t wait. Seven days off of work, almost a week and a half in one of the places I love most in this world, and some much needed family time. After the rough month of August, I don’t think I could be more ready for this trip. Now I’m ready to get this month started on a positive note, so let’s get to planning and prepping!
Sep 13 – Full Moon in Pisces
Sep 14 – Mercury enters Libra
Sep 15 – Venus enters Libra
Sep 19 – Saturn Stations Direct
Sep 23 – Sun enters Libra
Sep 28 – New Moon in Libra
Multiple planets are going into love and relationship-focused Libra this month, even Venus herself. This month, examine your romantic relationships and nourish them carefully around both the full moon and new moon. If it’s time to let go of a relationship, make sure you listen to your heart and do what you feel is right for you. If arguments come up around the full moon, don’t let your emotions get the best of you.
We’re getting a special Full “Harvest” Moon midway through the month, in the gentle water sign of Pisces. The “harvest moon” enables the moon to shine even brighter than usual, illuminating all that we need to see and gather for the harvest. With Pisces being a water sign, this full moon can be even more emotional than usual so it will be important for us to welcome these emotions with a compassionate heart. Be careful not to overreact in situations that may come up during this time or quiet your emotions, instead listening to what they’re trying to tell us.
The New Moon will also be in Libra, so know that there will be a focus on the relationships in your life (or yet to come into your life). Use the full moon to let go of relationships that are no longer serving you so that you can make room for new relationships during the new moon. If you’ve been with your partner for a long time, now would be a great time to redefine what partnership means for the two of you. Have a deep, honest conversation with those you love most…including yourself!
September’s Tarot Reading
Question: What will this month bring?
>Seven of Pentacles. This card emphasizes the hard work you’ve put into your various professional or creative ventures and can signal success around the corner. If you feel that you should be reaping more of the rewards by now, you might need a change of perspective as it’s possible your rewards are waiting for you to recognize them.
>The Chariot. This card symbolizes strong will and triumph. You’ve set your intentions and must now channel your inner power with a fierce dedication to bring them to fruition. When you apply discipline, commitment, and willpower to achieve your goals…you will succeed.
>Nine of Swords. This card points out the worries and anxieties you’ve been having about a situation. The more you obsess about what could go wrong, the more likely it will as you are manifesting that negativity into your life. Instead of looking for evidence of what is going wrong, focus your attention on what is going right. Break the cycle of negative thoughts and replace with positive ones.
Journal Prompt: Spend 30 minutes reflecting on what each card means to you right now and journal about it. Are you looking for your rewards in all the wrong places? Can you find the chariot within yourself and continue on to success? Is there something you’re anxiously obsessing over that you can reframe in a more positive way?
Goals & Intentions
August was an easy month to prioritize and incorporate my goals into my daily routine since I was relatively not busy. I’m hoping that since I dedicated a whole month to these goals and really cemented them into my days, they’ll stick around as I continue with September’s goals.
Goal: Enjoy each present moment. I am so guilty of thinking way too far ahead. It’ll be a Saturday morning and I’m already thinking about how the weekend is almost over and soon it’ll be Monday. I could be on my patio reading after getting home from work and I’m already dreading how I’ll be back to work in a matter of hours, rather than enjoying what I’m doing right there and then. For this month, I want to practice enjoying each moment as it is rather than thinking ahead of whats to come. Especially as I go on vacation, I don’t want to get to the hotel and think how this trip is here and so it’s almost over! No thank you. Mantra: I will be intentional and I will be present.
Goal: Donate clothes. It’s time to get into the Marie Kondo mindset and ask myself which of my clothes bring me joy and which do not. I know I have a ton of shorts and jeans that haven’t fit me in a long time, but I’ve been hanging on to them in the hopes that one day they will again. But it just makes me sad whenever I see them! It’s time to let them go, especially since summer is just about over. Mantra: I will get rid of the old to make room for the new.
Goal: Plant some new plants. The summer heat was tough on a few of my plant babies. They’ve been slowly dying and I’ve been holding onto hope that they will make a comeback but it’s time I admit to myself that they just will not. I need to remove this dead energy from my apartment and welcome in some new, fresh energy in its place (after I get back from my trip). Mantra: I will breathe some fresh air into my home.
I’m in need of a better month than last month so I’m going to speak it into existence. Creating this Plan With Me series really helps me organize my thoughts and goals for the month ahead and I hope it does for you, too. Use this long weekend to really spend some time with yourself, writing down your goals and mantras and envisioning what you need from September.
